Smoky Row Press is thrilled to announce the publication of Marilyn Swander’s Grammy Mare Stories: A New Life on the Amazon Kindle platform with a paperback edition coming soon.
How does a retired police horse adjust to farm life? Follow Grammy Mare, the big sorrel horse, as she nervously says goodbye to her friends on Mock Avenue and is taken to the farm where she helps others in a new way.
Through telling stories about a lost bird, runaway sheep, a rude rat, and adventurous mice, Grammy Mare imparts lessons about friendship, problem-solving, and cooperation to her farm animal listeners.
As a young mother, Marilyn Swander began writing stories about her children to share with her family. After her youngest child was in elementary school, she headed to college to become a teacher. Marilyn spent over twenty-five years teaching fifth and second graders and often used project-based learning to give her students hands-on learning opportunities. She especially loved sharing her passion for paleontology with her students. Now retired, Marilyn enjoys writing and creating activities for her twenty-one grandchildren.
A collection of five Grammy Mare stories for readers aged 5-10. Independent reading level 3.5 grade. Read a sample or purchase Grammy Mare Stories: A New Life on Kindle.
